Big news! Your RacingLine Software Dealer can now unlock the DQ381 G2 and ZF8 gearboxes via the RacingLine Server in minutes - with no mechanical changes needed, no hardware mechatronics swaps, no third-party tools, no transmission strip-downs - and minimal waiting!
Until now, the latest 2021+ locked DSG and ZF8 transmission control units have prevented TCU tuning access. That all changes with the new RacingLine CommsLink Cable. At last, you'll be ready to flash RacingLine TCU software into your 2021+ Volkswagen, Audi, Cupra or Skoda DQ381 G2 or ZF8 TCU with the locked "401" boot loader.
Now, with your gearbox controller unlocked, your car is ready to receive the RacingLine Dynamic TCU Software. With TCU tuning installed, the gearbox will integrate perfectly with RacingLine's Engine Software - improving shift behaviour, increasing power-handling capability and allowing the gearbox strategy to match the higher torque demands of tuned engines.
What is
the '401' bootloader?
The DQ381 G2 (Generation 2) 7-speed DSG transmission fitted to most 2022+ vehicles from the Volkswagen Group comes equipped with a locked "401" bootloader.
This is VWG's latest security measure that prevents any modification or tuning of the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) through conventional OBD-II programming methods. Game over when it comes to high-power.

We will shortly be introducing a separate PDM CommsLink Cable unlock harness for PDM customers, allowing you to unlock your transmission yourself, quickly and easily at home or anywhere with decent WiFi.
With the new PDM CommsLink Cable and its simple hardware connections, you will be able to complete the process from your own phone, mobile device, or laptop - all using your existing RacingLine PDM Mobile App.
Plus, the PDM CommsLink Cable can be used on multiple cars - handy if you want to help out friends and family!
Once unlocked, your transmission will ready for transformation with the RacingLine Dynamic TCU Tune - also easily installed via your PDM.

DYNAMIC PRESSURES
Our smart TCU software takes its feed from the ECU to calculate clutch pressures from 12 bar (stock) to 19 bar based on demand: meaning one flash gives dynamic clutch pressure whatever your engine tune.
GREAT PERFORMANCE
Raised shift points and increased clutch clamping pressure beyond factory torque levels ensure the quickest changes possible for the best performance.
TORQUE LIMITS
By increasing the torque limiters in the gearbox, the 'box will no longer command the engine ECU to pull power back. Meaning the full potential of the engine is no longer limited. Our dynamic TCU map adapts for any car tuned from Stage 1 to Stage 3 or beyond.
DRIVING PLEASURE
We're all keen drivers, and what better than taking full control of your car with our True Manual Mode. Even in normal 'D' mode, shift strategy is more natural, avoiding those annoying upshifts right through to top gear at low speeds.
PEACE OF MIND
The gearbox now handles up to 650Nm (500 lb-ft) safely without ever overstressing the DSG's inherent hardware systems. We've been testing this solution on road & track for a year now.

We believe in doing the job correctly, especially for such a technical upgrade. That's why we've chosen our global network of RacingLine Technical Centres. Even if you want to use our PDM Flash at Home system, our RacingLine dealers are there to help to verify the health of your car prior to flashing, to ensure that the programming has been correctly installed and finally to verify the successful performance after install. The PDM Power Delivery Module allows you to access the full RacingLine Performance Software calibration suite for your car from your laptop or via your mobile device with the free App-Connect download. Quickly and safely reflash your Engine Control Unit (ECU) and DSG Transmission Control Unit (TCU) anywhere with a wifi/phone connection.
Meaning you can install your software, vary between fuel types, return to stock or activate Theft Protect as often as you want, wherever you want.
